CRAZY WISDOM'S MEETING ROOM - RATES AND
PROCEDURES
The purpose of having a meeting room
at Crazy Wisdom is to offer a pleasant and convenient space
for programs in the subject areas where our store specializes.
It is therefore available for rent primarily to groups offerings
programs on such subjects.
The room is available for rent beginning
one-half hour after the store opens until one-half hour before
the store closes. The store's hours are: Monday thru Thursday,
10-10; Friday and Saturday, 10-11; Sunday, 11-6.
Our meeting room has comfortable seating
for 13, and an additional 20 stacking chairs that can be arranged
as you would like. After using the room, each group is responsible
to return all furniture to its standard position and to remove
all trash or other items. We can not rent the room again to
any group that fails to do so.
To inquire whether the room is open
at the time you would like to rent, please call Crazy Wisdom
at 665-2757 and ask for Rachel Pastiva or Bill Zirinsky. If
they are not there, leave a message and one of them will call
you back. No one else at Crazy Wisdom will be handling room
reservations, so only Rachel or Bill can answer your questions.
During weekends, and during weekday
evenings after 6 pm, the rental fee is $16 per hour, with
a minimum rental of 2½ hours (i.e. $40 is the minimum
fee.) During weekdays prior to 6pm, the rental fee is $8 per
hour, with a minimum rental of 2½ hours (i.e. $20 is
the minimum fee for weekdays). We recommend that you reserve
the room from at least 15 minutes before your event begins
(in order to include set-up time), and until at least 15 minutes
after your event ends (in order to include clean-up time).
After you have reserved a time with
Rachel or Bill, a check for 50% of the full amount of the
rental must be received within five days. The date(s) you
have booked the meeting room MUST appear on all checks. If
your check is not received within five days, the reservation
can not be held. This first 50% deposit is not refundable.
The remaining 50% of the full rental
amount is due one month before your first reserved time. If
your second check is not received one month before your first
reserved time, your reservation can not be held and your first
deposit will be lost.
If you need to cancel your event and
it is at least one month before your first reserved time,
the second payment of 50% will not be due. Once you have made
that second 50% payment, it is also not refundable.
We would like to make our meeting
room available for rent to a wide variety of groups. Therefore,
we have divided the year into three trimesters: January through
April, May through August, and September through December.
A group may rent our meeting room up to a total of 8 morning
and afternoon times, and 8 evening times during each of these
trimesters. (Evening time is after 6 p.m.)
Equipment and Supplies
There is a lectern in the room for
those who may need it. An extra folding table can be provided,
as well as an easel for presentation - it is helpful if you
request those in advance. We do not provide writing paper,
pens, pencils, or art supplies.
Bulky items or equipment (audio-video
equipment, meditation props, musical instruments, boxes of
books, etc.) may be carried up our backstairs or brought up
on our elevator.
Equipment and supplies must not be
brought up our beautiful front mahogany staircase.
Food and Beverages in the Tea Room
Rental of the Meeting Room does not
include special food and beverage services from the Tea Room.
You and your attendees are welcome to bring Tea Room food
and beverages back to the Meeting Room, and we ask that you
bring dirty dishes, glasses, cups and saucers back to the
Tea Room when you are finished. If many in your group will
be buying food and beverages from the Tea Room, you may want
to alert a Tea Room staff member ahead of time, and/or you
may want to place your orders sufficiently ahead of time,
so that the orders can be filled in a timely manner while
the Tea Room staff is also taking care of Tea Room customers.
Food and beverages should not be brought
in from the outside. For more information about Tea Room services,
please speak to our Tea Room manager, Samantha Emerick.
Renting the Room for Parties or Other
Special Occasions
The Meeting Room is primarily intended
for use by groups holding bookstore-related talks, classes
and workshops, but we welcome other inquiries. If you are
interested in renting the Meeting Room for a special occasion
such as a baby or bridal shower, a birthday party, office
party, or other celebration, different rental rates apply.
The rental rate is a $60 flat rate for up to 4 hours.
For parties or other special occasions,
if you want food and beverage services, please speak to our
Tea Room Manager, Samantha Emerick.
For More Information
Rachel Pastiva or Bill Zirinsky will
be happy to explain these meeting room procedures. We welcome
your inquiry about renting the Crazy Wisdom meeting room.
