Silent Sitting Meditation at Tsogyelgar Dharma

A Gentle Path with the Goddess Tara at Tsogyelgar
Dharma Center with Senior Students of Traktung Yeshe Dorje
First and third Wednesdays of each month, 7:30 p.m. We
will use the books of Pema Chodron and the Tantric meditation on
the goddess Tara to discover a way to move through and beyond self-imposed
limitations and suffering. By creating an open space of self-acceptance,
we can start where we are and discover spaciousness

Meditation Basics for Teens and Adults with Mara
Evans through Tree of Life April 8-June 17, Tuesdays at 7:30
p.m. Experience and learn about the benefits of the meditative
state and altered states of consciousness and awareness. Students
will experiment with several techniques using color, sound, breath,
and depth psychology to discover what is right for you. Tap into
your inner wisdom and gain focus and clarity while reducing your
stress level. Classes will entail a combination of instruction,

Meditation Day of Practice and Silence with Carol
Blotter at Michigan Friends Center in Chelsea June 1 or Aug.
3, 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. One-day retreats are a great opportunity
to enjoy deep meditation and to experience support for our practice.
The day includes brief meditation instructions, sitting and walking

Fundamentals of Meditation: Practice and Discussion

fundamentals of meditation through practice and discussion. Class
will open and close with fieften minutes of spiritual discussion.

Vipassana and Opening the Heart: A Meditation
Retreat with Barbara Brodsky, John Orr, Ann Barden, and Aaron of
Deep Spring June 20-27 or June 20-23 (4-day option) in Brighton
Along with vipassana (insight meditation), we will work
with the practices of lovingkindness, compassion, sympathetic joy,
and equanimity. The retreat will be held in noble silence, with
instructions for beginning and advance meditators, evening talks,
and optional group meetings and private interviews with the teachers.
Mindfulness throughout the day will be the intention. The meditations
derive from Buddhist traditions, but no special religious beliefs
are necessary to their practice. $415 for the full week or $245

Insight Meditation and the Practice of Happiness

p.m. This class provides instruction in the ancient method
of insight meditation as well as powerful support practices that
lead the heart to happiness. Insight meditation is a profound practice
of moment-to-moment awareness of mind/body processes as a path to
freedom. As we begin to free ourselves from habitual patterns that
have caused our suffering, we start to experience the open, radiant
heart that has always been with us but has often gone unnoticed.

Introduction to Vipassana Meditation Half-Day
Workshop with Frank Levey, Lou Weir or Ann Barden of Deep Spring

to insight meditation with no experience necessary. This program
provides an excellent opportunity to find out what Vipassana is
all about and experience the practice firsthand. The workshop is
oriented to beginners and also recommended for meditators who would
