Tree of Life Student Showcase with Tree of Life

glimpse of the fabulous world of drum and dance. Our students will
demonstrate what they have been working on for the past six months.

Chakra Dancer with Megan Rose of Tree of Life
Studio Fridays, April 11-June 20; 9:30 a.m. Chakra
Dancer is a mind-body-spirit fitness routine that activates the
flow of energy upward along the spine through the seven energy wheels.
Each chakra corresponds to specific physical, emotional, and energetic
functions. By awakening the pathway between these seven centers,
all systems of health are brought closer to balance and vitality.
This is a special Nia routine in that the teacher does not speak,
only denoting changes of movement through a double handclap. You
experience a closer connection to the music and your own body, allowing

Jazz/Hip Hop for Teens and Adults with Jenabah
Giacomelli at Tree of Life Studio Wednesdays, 6 p.m.; April
9-June 18 Bringing together the culture of street dancing
and the technical training of jazz dance, choreography is set to
fast paced music with movements involving all muscles in the body.
We will build strength, discipline, and style, and focus on increasing
flexibility, muscle tone, and proper technique. Hip Hop utilizes
the beats and rhythms of the music. Students will work with isolating
different body parts and learning a variety of movements like popping,
waving, and locking. No previous dance training is required but
a good attitude is a must. Jazz shoes or jazz sneakers recommended.

Eternal Movement for Teens and Adults with Jenabah
Giacomelli at Tree of Life Studio Wednesdays, 7 p.m.; April
9-June 18 Eternal Movement is a fusion of various techniques
and principles of several different practices, including Capoeira,
tai chi, and yoga. As a low-impact movement, the focus is to increase
strength, balance, flexibility, and body awareness with continuous
rhythmic movement, breathing, and stretching. Emphasis is placed
on connecting the movements and stretches with rhythmic breathing.

Samba for Teens and Adults with Jenabah Giacomelli
at Tree of Life Studio Thursdays, 6 p.m.; April 10-June 19
Experience the joy of Brazilian carnival while learning
basic Samba steps to rhythmical roots music. No partners are necessary.
Class will begin with an invigorating warm-up that eases you into
the full body movements of the dance. Samba encourages students
to develop their personal style and become more aware of their bodys

Beginning Tribal Style Bellydance for Teens and
Adults with Jenabah Giacomelli at Tree of Life Studio Thursdays,
7 p.m.; April 10-June 19 Tribal Style Bellydance is a
modern variation of bellydancing originating from the San Francisco/Bay
Area. It is a fusion form of dance influenced by many dances from
the Middle East, India, North Africa, and Spain. This class will
cover basic dance movements, technique, and the concept of tribal

Intermediate Tribal Style Bellydance for Teens

those who wish to continue on the path of tribal style bellydance.
We will dive deeper into our bodies with isolations and combinations
as we proceed to polish and understand the concept of group improvisation.
Prior bellydance experience required. Dancers involved with this
class will be considered an avid member of Nomadic Jewels Tribal
Bellydance with opportunities to perform, attend outside workshops,
make close new friends, and wear beautiful bellydance garb. $12

Capoeria for Kids Ages 4 and Up with Van Robinson
(Manhoso) and Marika Smith (Baiana) at Tree of Life Studio

for kids. It combines martial arts, gymnastics, music, and dance
in a cultural context. Capoeira is active and acrobatic, and provides
a fun workout. Children of all ages learn very quickly because of

Bristol Tuesdays, April 8-June 17, 6:15 p.m. Pilates
method exercises are designed to condition and connect body and
mind, to correct muscle imbalances, improve posture, and tone the

rhythmic, full-bodied workout technique that strengthens the body,
mind, and spirit. With easy to follow moves, Nia fuses dance movement,
martial arts, and healing arts into an invigorating cardiovascular
fitness program. Nia combines elements of tai chi, yoga, and dance

African Dance for Kids Ages 7-12 with Jenabah

7-June 16 Enjoy the vibrant fun of African dance as we
feel the drum beat in our feet! Students will explore rhythm and
time while learning about communication between the drum and dance.
Class also includes an invigorating warm-up that emphasizes correct
stretching techniques and exciting movements, followed by across
the floor combinations and simple step by step dance sequences.

African Diaspora Dance for Teens and Adults with
Jenabah Giacomelli at Tree of Life Studio Mondays, 6 p.m.;
April 7-June 16 Let the beat of the drums move your body
and soul! Incorporating basic stretch and warm up exercises with
dance movements, students will learn songs, rhythms, and dances
as we embark on a journey of high energy movements from West Africa
and rhythmic yet fluid gestures inspired from East Africa. We will
also tap into the magic and beauty of Afro-Cuban folkloric dances.
Class is accompanied with live musicians to help students understand
the communication between the drums and the dance. This class offers
a rich taste of African culture and provides an amazing, full body

Celebrate Prayer through Movement: Dance Your
Praise and Petitions with Kathleen Matz through Weber Center
May 17, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. This liturgical dance workshop
invites the participant to enjoy creative expression through movement
and offers a visional way to pray psalms, hymns, and scripture.
The history of liturgical dance will be presented and participants
will have the experience of creating a liturgical dance ritual.
